I don't ever really cancel copy operations so it's not for me. The copy dialog just looks nice.and that's about it. The new task manager makes this a bit more difficult by hiding the processes under groups and categories which need to be expanded. My use cases for the task manager are ending a freezing program and that's about it (Ctrl+Shift+Esc, type the name of the process, Del, Enter). I agree the task manager and copy dialog are very nice looking and contain much better information but from a purely practical perspective they offer me nothing new. The only reason I need the start menu is quick access to the run prompt and whenever Launchy is missing a shortcut in it's database (not too often). I also didn't notice any framerate increases in any of the games I played (TF2, Driver SF, Skyrim, Sleeping Dogs, and others).Īs a Launchy user I find that paying $5 for a slow launcher is unwise. These devices still have some issues with Windows 8 and I had to do a lot of bug stomping to get some of them to work (namely gamepads).
