This way, when you insert the new key, the lower pins will push all the upper pins just above the shear line, allowing the cylinder to turn freely. Then, drawing from a collection of replacement pins of various sizes, the locksmith selects new lower pins that fit perfectly between the notches of the key and the shear line. The locksmith removes all of the pins from the cylinder. The process of re-keying a lock is very simple. The remaining six pins (the lower pins) will be of various lengths to match up with the notches on the key. All of the upper pins are exactly the same size. When you open up the shafts in the cylinder and empty them out, you have six springs and 12 tiny pins. In this basic six-pin lock set, you can see how this re-keying works. The right combination of pins lines up perfectly with the notches in the key. You can also get locks re-keyed at most hardware stores. If the lock is designed with a universal keying system, any locksmith can re-key the lock in no time. To change a lock so that it fits an existing key, you simply work in the opposite direction: You change the pattern of the pins in the lock so that it matches the pattern of notches in the key. ![]() Essentially, you cut a pattern in the metal that matches the pattern of the pins in the lock. To make a new key for an existing lock, you cut a series of notches in the key so that it raises each of the upper pins just above the shear line. ![]() The advantages of this are obvious: You can add new locks to your home or business without attaching a bunch of new keys to your key ring. One cool thing about pin-and-tumbler locks is that you can re-configure them to fit an existing key (provided that the key is for the same lock design). ![]() The shafts of a pin-and-tumbler lock contain several springs and tiny pins.

It covers each light’s meaning, as well as what action should be taken when they are illuminated. To activate the brake warning the computer would have had to detect an issue with a sensor in the braking system. When this was illuminated the driver would be required to stop as soon as safely possible and switch off the car. The BRAKE warning icon was possibly the most dangerous though, suggesting that there was a serious fault in the braking system. Owners of the minivan were also sometimes hit with the annoying security fault that led to the alarm sounding and refusing to turn off even when the car was opened up. Oct 28 05:27:58 sqlservr: 05:27:58.37 spid51 Server shut down by request from login sa. Let’s say we initiate a shutdown in SQL Server the T-SQL command SHUTDOWN here’s what we’ll get in journald. Let’s see what happens in certain exit conditions from SQL Server on Linux. systemd is the parent process of the sqlservr process and receives it’s exit code. Now when things go wrong, that’s when process return a non-zero value. In a relational database system this is significant, in that, we really do want our systems to shut down cleanly. This means all is well in the world and the process has shut down. When a process exits, it will return an integer value to the parent process. If a process terminates cleanly, it conventionally returns 0 to the parent process. We’ll save those discussions for another day. There are other conditions that cause it to restart such as responding to unclean signals, watchdog and also service timeouts. What Restart=on-failure option does, is if a systemd unit returns an unclean exit code, systemd will automatically restart the service. Inside that file we have the following configuration: Service units in systemd are configured in unit files and SQL Server on Linux’s unit file lives in the file /usr/lib/systemd/system/rvice. Journalctl -u mssql-server –no-pager | more We’ll use this command in the next section. To get the text to wrap, use the following code…then pipe the output into a pager like more or less because you know… less is more. Running just journalctl will cause the text output to run off the side of the screen without wrapping the text in your terminal. We can query the information stored in journald with the command journalctl and below is the syntax to query a particular service unit’s log in journald. The SQL Server Error Log lands in here because it’s written to standard out and by default, a service unit’s standard out is written into the journal. Now with respect to SQL Server on Linux, the information logged into journald is systemd’s information about our rvice unit and also the SQL Server Error Log. Journald stores logging information from systemd units. It does much more than that, in fact, one of it’s other core components is journald. Meaning, it’s responsible for the orderly starting of services on a Linux system. Systemd is an initialization daemon, it’s job is to bring the system to usable state. ![]() My friend and SQL Server guru Argenis Fernandez – about this behavior on Twitter and I’ve been meaning to write this post, so here you go! The app does not need any special permissions to function. If your Android device does not use ARM architecture, you need to compile the stunnel from source for your device architecture first, then use the binary and compile the SSLSocks app. That’s the great part, you don’t need to compile it yourself! While the README file does outline the steps necessary to source the Android binary and compile the app yourself, the compiled version of the app (armed with the required stunnel binary for android), is available on Google Play:. The rest of this post is dedicated to provide a basic documentation for the said app in hoping that it could help others to make use of it, and to also give back something to the author of the app to know that his app is actually being used. This app however, comes with a little to no documentation and could be a little tricky to make it work for the first time. The VPN part is not done yet but the stunnel part is working fine. Originally intended to be a socks5 VPN through TLS. The app name does not remotely give the impression of stunnel, mainly because it was… In the end, I was able to find a decent little-known open-source app which is still maintained by the developer and also regularly updated to include the latest stunnel binary. There are not so many of them, and most are either not maintained anymore or require you to compile the app yourself (which lets face it, is way less than ideal!) I spent quite a good amount of time trying to find a suitable and decent app. So we need an unofficial GUI (a wrapper if you will), an app that could provide the required front-end to the user and then pass the execution to the stunnel binary. While making an Android GUI is in the stunnel author’s TODO list, there is still no official GUI available. Meaning it can hardly be used by end users, and is mainly suitable for developers. Chances are though, that your device is running on ARM and you are ready to go.Īnother thing to note, is that the stunnel compiled version, is CLI only. Since we’ll be using the compiled binary, you may need to compile stunnel yourself for your specific Android architecture before continuing 1. Even though most Android devices run on ARM, this is particularly important to note for those devices that are not (e.g, Android-x86). I am on the fence as stunnel seems easy to setup but openvpn on the router seems more secure at the gateway. This file is compiled for ARM architecture. I quickly dropped stunnel because its setup is nontrivial compared to the other two (no logging, no init file.) this seems easier to setup but from reading on the internet it doesnt have logging. from the primer it seems openvpn is the ideal choice.īut i saw people mention stunnel as well. Can I use an app to boost my iPhone signal? Yes - once you're using a booster kit, your phone will see stronger 2G, 3G and 4G signals, and as a result you should no longer drop calls. Will a signal booster improve the voice quality of my calls and prevent dropped calls? Our full range of 4G LTE boosters can be found here. Yes! Almost all cell phone signal boosters on the market today support 4G LTE frequencies. Will a signal booster boost my iPhone's 4G LTE data speeds? Booster kits include antennas, amplifier and cables to connect the system. The amplifier boosts the signal and rebroadcasts it inside via the inside antenna, eliminating dead coverage zones. The outside antenna receives an outside signal and transmits it to an amplifier. Booster kits typically contain two antennas: one that communicates with the cellphone tower, and another that communicates with your phone. How does a cellphone booster improve my iPhone signal?Ī signal booster is a hardware device that you can install in your home, office or vehicle. Signal boosters are "bi-directional amplifiers" - that means they amplify the signal being sent to and from your nearest cellphone tower. If you have weak or no cell signal indoors, installing an FCC-approved cell signal booster can greatly improve your coverage. How can I improve the signal for my iPhone? ![]() If you're located just between multiple towers, your phone will have a hard time detecting and decoding the signal from the tower it's connected to. ![]() The last factor is "inter-cell interference," and while it won't cause you to drop calls, it can dramatically reduce your data speeds. The metal frame of the vehicle blocks electromagnetic fields and frequency waves, making it difficult for cell signal to penetrate inside. The same effect can also be seen in a car, truck or RV. If you can get iPhone signal outside your building, on the roof, or from an upstairs window, but not indoors, then the problem is likely to be building materials interfering with your signal - and a cell phone signal booster (also known as a repeater) could fix the problem. ![]() Many homes and offices use wire mesh in their drywall that can block cell signal. Cellular signals have a hard time passing through metal and concrete walls. The cause of your low bars is far more likely to be due to the construction materials used in your home or office. The biggest cause of weak iPhone signal however is often not the tower itself, but the building you are in. Signal can be reduced by hills, buildings, trees, and even the weather - wind, rain, lightening, and ice can all effect your connection to the tower. You must be "within range" of a cell tower for your phone to work. The distance to the nearest cell phone tower has a big impact on your signal. What causes weak iPhone cellular signal?įirst off, lets discuss what's causing those low bars. In this guide, we explain what's causing that poor signal and how a cell phone signal booster can help. Poor cell phone signal at home, in the office, or in your vehicle can make your shiny Apple device quickly go from technological wonder to huge frustration. The iPhone is an incredible device and a joy to use. |
