6/10/2023 0 Comments Aerofly rc 7 dk2 cv1 release![]() ![]() openVR and OSVR SDKs will support the Rift, but will likely have suboptimal performance unsure about steamVR. Not very knowledgeable here sorry, but I can say games designed with the Oculus SDK won't be compatible out of the box with Vive, although I imagine several workarounds/hacks will become available in the first year or two. I wouldn't expect either CV to be "hackable", but OSVR does have a hacker kit that may be what your looking for. From what I've heard/seen, the SDE is virtually gone in CV1 and Vive, but the resolution is still low enough you may be able to discern individual pixels. The DK1 similarly had a clear black grid separating pixels, similar visually to looking through a screen door or fly netting, leading to a resurgence in the SDE terminology. The screen door effect is separate to resolution the term was originally coined for early digital projectors which had a very visible grid of pixels with a darkened grid separating them. How likely are delays with the headsets that aren't out yet?Īre there any contenders worth looking at besides the oculus and vive? So if someone mods a game to have oculus vr support, will there be a reasonable way to have that function on the vive? I don't mind getting my hands dirty if there has to be some sort of conversion, but I'm hoping its easier than just doing it from scratch with the vive's sdk. What is the level of compatability between mods/games produced for oculus headsets and the vive. The screen door effect, how has that situation changed with the vive/cv1? I've been hearing conflicting reports Will there be any restrictions on the vive/cv1 that the dk2 would be more open about? I'd prefer a more hackable headset. I have the gtx 660 ti which I'm told is acceptable for some of the less demanding games but I've had the card for some time and I'm open to the idea of upgrading. I do have hobbyist 3d game programming experience. I plan on using it to explore some of the virtual worlds out there and begin building some of my own. What's the currently recommended course of action, and how likely are delays here? I know I'll be kicking myself if its march of next year and the cv1 still isn't out. As a single individual with a DC area software developer's salary I'm not super worried about the money involved here, but it does feel somewhat wasteful to buy two or even all three so I'm here asking for advice. I found the DK2 has been out for a year now and we've got the vive coming out soon (along with the CV1 not too far behind). I'm seriously craving beginning to play with this and started looking for how to get one of my own. The only major criticism I had was that everything was very clearly pixelated (I think you all call this the screen door effect?). The demo itself was nothing special but as a previous skeptic toward the technology just the immersiveness of the VR blew me away. I'm visiting london and happened to stumble on a roller coaster demo with the dk2. Sorry to be that guy, but I figured this would be the best place to ask.
